Clean Energy Week (February 1-5, 2010)

Date:
Monday, February 1, 2010 (All day) - Friday, February 5, 2010 (All day)

When it comes to climate change, everyone can be part of the solution. This is why CEEP has joined with organizations, interest groups, businesses and associations across the country to declare the first week of February Clean Energy Week.

From February 1-5, 2010, participating organizations will collaborate to push climate and energy to the forefront of national policy by producing a high-impact week of compelling and effective activities and events.

On the agenda? Press conferences, workshops, receptions, seminars, briefings, blogs and outreach activities with a three-pronged approach: raise awareness of the need for clean energy law; encourage and inform the passage of climate and clean energy legislation in Congress; and challenge policymakers to achieve tangible results by the 40th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22, 2010).

The goal? Establish Clean Energy Week as an annual benchmark for progress in clean energy. Through collaboration and coordination, participating groups will push forward energy efficiency, renewable energy and other climate solutions as the administration and Congress develop budgets, policies and initiatives to address climate change and refuel the economy.

“We [all] want to engage Congress and the Administration to take action on clean energy and climate. [This is] a top priority for the American people [and] an essential component of immediate and sustained job creation and economic growth,” said Michael Eckhart, president of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), which is spearheading the event. “Clean Energy Week activities will underscore this consensus.”
