September 22: State & Utility Partnerships: Engaging American Manufacturers

Date:
Wednesday, September 22, 2010 - 09:00 - 10:30

As a part of their Capitol Hill briefing series, the Alliance to Save Energy's Industrial Program presents "State & Utility Partnerships: Engaging American Manufacturers." The briefing will feature subject experts representing state, utility, and industrial perspectives, to discuss effective models of collaboration, programmatic gaps, and existing regulatory barriers in the deployment of cost effective energy efficiency across the U.S. industrial base. Speakers may share their own experiences in past collaboration and/or offer ideas to align common interests through the lens of industrial energy efficiency.

Why Industrial Energy Efficiency?

A diversity of stakeholders have an interest in advancing energy efficiency within U.S. industry. Aside from individual manufacturers, their respective states, municipalities and utilities each benefit from efficiency enhancements. Industrial energy consumption accounts for approximately one-third of U.S. energy use and successful implementation of energy efficiency can reduce aggregate power demand, increase productivity, enhance competitiveness, and encourage job retention/creation, among other benefits—all of which have positive feedbacks for utilities, as well as state and local governments.
