Assessment of Energy Efficiency Potential in Georgia was prepared by ICF Consulting for the Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority, in 2005. It presents data characterizing:

  • Georgia's electricity and natural gas load, wholesale and retail costs of energy and end use efficiency technologies
  • Georgia's technically feasible, economically viable and realistically achievable potential for energy efficiency
  • Direct impacts of this energy efficiency potential on generation, generating capacity and wholesale electric prices

Opportunities for Georgia utilities and promising program measures are outlined in a complementary document - Strategies for Capturing Georgia's Energy Efficiency Potential.

Although this analysis was done in 2005 and projected potential 2010 scenarios, the approach, data collection methods and many of the findings are still relevant to utilities in Georgia and the Southeast planning energy efficiency activities now. In particular, the sample portfolio of energy efficiency programs in Section 1.1. of the companion document is a useful reference guide for any utiltiy just entering the field.
