The U.S. Department of Energy's Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) works with industry to save energy and money, increase productivity, and reduce environmental impacts by:

  • Conducting R&D on new energy efficient technologies
  • Supporting commercialization of emerging technologies
  • Providing plants with access to proven technologies, energy assessments, software tools, and other resources
  • Promoting energy and carbon management in industry

The ITP website provides access to online tools, resources and sample utility action plans.

Opportunities for APPA Members

APPA has partnered with the Industrial Technologies Program to present a series of industrial customer efficiency webinars. These webinars will cover a variety of industrial sector energy topics from financial mechanisms for implementing energy efficiency projects to exploring combined heat and power. Utilities are the target audience for these webinars, however, you are welcome to invite your industrial customers if they have an interest in the topic.

As part of the APPA - ITP partnership utilities can also host local training sessions to teach industrial manufacturing managers, plant personnel, and other industrial manufacturing end-users how to reduce energy use, while saving money and increasing plant efficiency and performance.
