State Policy
| Utility Spending: Energy Efficiency | All utilities in the state reported a total of $1,000 in spending in 2007 to the EIA. |
| Legislation Affecting Utilities |
A 2007 revision to existing restructuring law established a goal of reducing electricity consumption by retail customers in the state by ten percent of 2006 levels by the year 2022. In 2008, the legislature mandated that the state’s investor-owned utilities submit integrated resource plans with the Virginia State Corporation Commission (VSCC) that lay out demand-side resources. Relevance to Public Power: Public power utilities are not subject to the above mandates. |
